Itinerary
Day 1: RIGA

Arrival at Riga airport. Transfer to the hotel. Check-in. Dinner at the hotel restaurant.
Overnight in Riga.

Day 2: RIGA
Breakfast at the hotel.
After breakfast a tour of Jewish Riga including the Jewish quarter, the memorial to the burnt Great Synagogue of Riga, the Jewish school founded in the XIX c. Lunch at local restaurant. Afternoon visit to Rumbula and Bikierniki Memorials where Nazis murdered many thousands of Jews and Salaspils – the memorial site of the concentration camp. Dinner at the hotel restaurant.
Overnight in Riga.

Day 3: RIGA – RUNDALE – VILNIUS (300 km)
Breakfast at the hotel.
After breakfast departure to Vilnius. Stop in Rundale. Visit to Rundale Palace (18th century), the most beautiful Baroque palace in Latvia. The palace is an important example of the early work of Italian architect F. B. Rastrelli. Lunch at local restaurant. Arrival in Riga. Check-in at the hotel. Dinner at the hotel restaurant.
Overnight in Vilnius.

Day 4: VILNIUS
Breakfast at the hotel.
After breakfast a city tour of Vilnius, capital of Lithuania for more than 600 years. The tour includes: St.Peter and Paul’s Church, Gediminas Castle, Cathedral Square, St.Anne’s and Bernardines’ Churches, the Gates of Dawn with the holy image of the Virgin Mary, Russian Orthodox Church of the Holy Spirit, Town Hall Square and Vilnius University (founded in 1579) with St. Johns’ Church. The old Jewish quarter: narrow streets and courtyards, the Great Vilna Synagogue and Shulhoyf, the courtyard of Judenrat. Lunch at local restaurant. Afternoon visit to the Jewish State Museum and trip to the Ponar Forest near Vilnius, where more than 100.000 people, mostly Jewish, were murdered by the Nazis. Return to Vilnius. Dinner at the hotel restaurant.
Overnight in Vilnius.

Day 5: VILNIUS – TRAKAI – VILNIUS
Breakfast at the hotel.
After breakfast visit to the only functioning Vilna Synagogue. Meeting at the Jewish Community Center. Visit to the Jewish Shalom Aleichem secondary school. Lunch at local restaurant. Afternoon excursion to Trakai, the former capital of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, nestled in a picturesque region of lakes, forests and hills. Visit to Trakai Castle, a spectacular complex of the 14th century defensive fortifi cations erected on an island in the Lake Galve and to the Karaite Museum telling the story of this small ethnic group confessing Judaism, brought by Duke Vytautas the Great from the Crimea 600 years ago. On the way back to Vilnius visit to the former partisan base in the Roudnicki Fo rest, where the Jewish fi ghters and those Vilna ghetto prisoners that succeeded to escape, fought against the Nazis. Dinner at the hotel restaurant.

Day 6: VILNIUS – KAUNAS – VILNIUS (200 km)
Breakfast at the hotel.
After breakfast a trip to Kaunas (Kovna), the second largest city of Lithuania and the interim capital of the country between the two world wars. Sightseeing includes ruins of the Kaunas Castle, Town Hall Square with its impressive monuments. Lunch at local restaurant. Visiting Slobodka, the Jewish suburb of Kaunas and the ghetto during World War II, the Old Jewish cemetery, the 7th and the 9th Forts – death sites of thousands of Jews from Lithuania and other countries. Return to Vilnius. Dinner at the hotel restaurant.
Overnight in Vilnius.

Day 7: VILNIUS
Breakfast at the hotel.
Transfer to Vilnius airport. End of the tour.
